On the Insights dashboard at /insights, the Work in progress table and the dedicated Active Work In Progress report both talk about WIP, but they answer different questions. Neither is a single table that mixes this month’s forecast invoices with remaining-to-invoice balances.
Dashboard Work in progress table
This widget lists projects with a non-zero WIP balance from the projects already in your Insights filters (team, status, tags, and so on). It does not default to active-only. A closed project can appear if it still has WIP.
WIP: invoiced revenue less earned revenue (percentage-of-completion style). Positive means over-billed; negative means under-billed.
Order: largest absolute WIP first (biggest over- or under-bill at the top).
Limit: up to 10 projects. The total line under the table is across all selected projects with WIP, not only the 10 rows.
Period: the month or date range on the dashboard does not change this table. Figures are live project balances.
Columns: Project, Client, Team, Work in progress, Invoiced to date, and Remaining to invoice (budget or contract left to invoice where that applies; not shown for time-and-materials-only projects).
Active Work In Progress report
Open Insights → Active Work In Progress Insights (path /insights/work_in_progress) when you want a full, filterable WIP list rather than a dashboard snapshot.
With no status filter applied, the report defaults to active projects only.
It only includes projects with non-zero WIP.
You can sort, filter (status, team, type, tags, primary roles), paginate, and export to Excel.
Columns include Current WIP, Unbilled, last invoice, budget or contract value, Total Invoiced, and WIH (work in hand).
Forecast tiles on the main Insights dashboard (for in-month and future months) use planned invoices by due date on active projects in scope. That is separate from both WIP views.
See open projects only
On the dashboard Work in progress table, use the Insights status filter (and other filters) so the project set matches what you care about. The table itself does not force active-only.
For an open-project WIP list with sorting and export, use Active Work In Progress Insights and leave the status filter empty (active by default), or set status to the open statuses you want.
No combined forecast + WIP table yet
Drum does not currently offer one sortable table that combines this month’s forecast (planned invoices) with remaining-to-invoice or WIP in a single row set.
