How to export timesheet reports to Excel

Download Timesheet Summary or Detailed Timesheet from Insights, including the Detailed Timesheet 60-day Excel limit.

Written by Ben Walker

Use Insights timesheet reports when you need staff time in Excel for payroll, finance or offline analysis. This is separate from the personal timesheet under Time.

Export Timesheet Summary or Detailed Timesheet

  1. Open Insights.

  2. Under Timesheets, open Timesheet Summary or Detailed Timesheet.

  3. Set the date range (and any staff or team filters you need).

  4. Select Export Excel.

Your browser downloads an .xlsx file for the filtered period.

Which report to use

  • Timesheet Summary: totals by person across earning rates and credits for the period. Useful for a compact payroll-style overview.

  • Detailed Timesheet: line-level detail for the period. Use this when you need the breakdown behind the totals.

Detailed Timesheet Excel limit

For Detailed Timesheet, the Excel export only allows a date range shorter than 60 days. If the range is 60 days or longer, Drum blocks the download and asks you to shorten the dates. Split a longer period into smaller exports, or use Timesheet Summary when you only need totals.

Access

You need Insights Staff access for these reports. If Timesheets is missing from Insights, ask an administrator to check your permissions.

Payroll and Xero

Drum does not push weekly timesheets into Xero Payroll for most accounts. The practical path for a payroll file is this Excel export. Leave that arrives from Xero (when leave import is enabled) is a separate flow from timesheet push. See the Xero synchronisation reference.
