How to set a custom rate card for proposal budgets

A how-to guide on setting non-standard billable rates for your roles and team-members at the proposal budget level in Drum.

Written by Ben Walker

Before You Begin

  • You will need to create a proposal for a Drum opportunity.

  • You will need to have correct project roles setup in your Drum settings.

Steps

1. Navigate to the proposal "Settings" tab

Navigate to the proposal settings tab by clicking on the "Settings" option from the proposal view. The "Settings" option is to the right of the "Proposal" and "Project Budget" tabs.

2. Add the custom rate card

Click on the "Add Rate Card" button and within the form that appears, enter values for:

  1. The rate card name

  2. The custom rate per role or per staff member for this specific project proposal

You can also optionally select the "Apply below rates to all existing budget resourcing" checkbox to have the new rates automatically apply to any budget estimates you have already created.

Once the above fields are set, click on the "Save rate card" button to finalise.

3. View the update rates on the proposal budget

To view the updated rates, you can click on the "Project Budget" tab and you will see the "Project-specific rate card" in the left-hand column and all resourcing estimates for the project will use the new billable rates moving forward.

Converting a proposal with a custom rate card to a project will convert those rates to the project for time-tracking purposes as well.

Summary

Click on the "Settings" tab within a proposal to create or edit a custom rate card for that specific proposal budget.
