Connect Drum to Xero

Connect your finance account, check access and disconnect when required.

Written by Ben Walker

Connect Drum to Xero to use the finance integration for invoices and bills. Signing in with Xero is separate from granting access to these finance features.

Before you begin

You need access to the correct Xero organisation and permission to authorise the connection. A Drum account connects to one Xero organisation. Check the organisation before approving access.

Connect your account

  1. Open your profile menu in Drum and select Integrations.

  2. Select the Xero finance connection under Additional Integrations.

  3. Follow Xero’s authorisation steps. Choose the correct organisation and review the requested permissions.

  4. Return to Drum and check the connected organisation and permissions shown on the integrations page.

A button or permission label may mention payroll. Drum does not currently connect staff allowances to payroll; process allowances outside Drum.

Give staff access

Staff access depends on finance permissions and the connection or delegation available to the user. Each staff member does not necessarily need a separate Xero login. See finance integration delegation.

Use the connected workflows

Synchronisation and permitted edits depend on the record type and status. Check the integration status and any errors in Drum, then confirm the result in Xero. Do not assume every change synchronises immediately in both directions.

Disconnect Xero

Open Integrations from your Drum profile menu and select Remove beside the Xero connection. You can also remove Drum through Xero’s connected-app settings.

Disconnecting stops future synchronisation. It does not remove records already created in either system.

For differences between invoice, supplier-bill and expense-claim updates, see the Xero synchronisation reference.
