Change a project task’s status, start and due dates, assignees or note from the Work tab (or your task dashboard). You need permission to update that task.
Change the status
Open the project and select the Work tab.
Click the task’s status and choose the new status.
Check that the new status appears on the task row.
Marking a task completed records who completed it. Completed tasks can stop further time entry, depending on how your account is set up.
Set start and due dates
On the task row, click the start date or due date.
Choose the calendar day and save.
Check that the day shown on the task matches what you picked.
Task start, due and completed dates are day-only in your account time zone. Drum does not store a time of day on these fields, so the same day stays the same whether you are in the account time zone or another one.
Change assignees
Click the assigned people on the task, or Assign if nobody is assigned yet.
Select or clear people, then save.
Check the assignees on the task row. New assignees may receive a notification.
Changing assignees does not, by itself, change planned hours, rates, budget lines or variation rows.
When someone stays assigned
If you clear someone and they still appear, Drum shows a notice with the reason. Someone stays assigned when:
they have planned hours on the task (change the resourcing in Drum first)
a budget line of the task names them (change it on the Original Budget page)
they are on a variation line of the task
they have tracked or allocated time, an allocation, cost to complete lines or a finalised resource on the task
Only empty assignment rows (zero planned hours, and none of the above) are removed when you clear a person.
When assignee changes are refused
If the task belongs to a variation that is not yet approved, change its members after the variation is approved.
If someone already has a time row with planned hours on that task, assigning them through the assignee picker is refused so the hours stay unchanged. Adjust their resourcing on the task first.
Edit the task note
Open the task note or description field.
Edit the text and save.
Check that the note shows what you typed, including spaces.
Notes are stored as typed, up to 10,000 characters.
